Welcome to MOPPETS!
MOPPETS is a very special program designed for your children. We are pleased to have the privilege of caring for them. Your children will be actively involved in MOPPETS from 9:00 to 11:30 am while you are enjoying the fellowship at MOPS. We desire to provide a caring and learning environment for your children. Children love consistency. So that your children may benefit from the entire program, we ask that they arrive at their class by 9:10 am and that you not collect them before 11:30 (unless prearranged). Please keep you children in their assigned classroom, unless approved by our MOPPETS Coordinator.
Areas of instruction and development that will be included depending on age group this year include:
• Music time
• Playtime (structured and unstructured)
• Crafts and artwork
• Snack time
• Storybook and Bible learningPlease dress you children in comfortable clothes that are easy to change for those children in diapers. Check-in Time: Check-in time begins at 8:50am. Please sign your child in at his room and provide any information needed for that day. Your child will be provided a nametag. Moms must remain on the premises while your child is in the MOPPET program.
• MOPS Swap: All moms of MOPPETS will be required to serve one time in the opposite sessions MOPPETS ministry. The MOPPETS ministry depends on us to provide substitutes as needed. Because of the popularity of our program, workers are already scheduled. Just like us, our teachers have last minute emergencies. You will be given the opportunity to sign up at our first meetings. If you know someone who would like to work with MOPPETS on a regular basis, please let the MOPPETS Coordinator know.
• Guidelines for Parent/Child Separation: Our goal is to create an atmosphere where your child feels happy and secure. Sometimes it is hard to leave Mom, so to help you and your child with this time, we have a few suggestions:
Make your "goodbyes" short. A kiss and hug with a cheerful "See you later" is good. Please do not prolong the procedure by visiting with friends or your child. Long "goodbyes" are hard for your child.
If you think your child will have "tears," take him/her to one of the teachers for some extra attention and love while you leave. Please don't leave without saying "goodbye." Tears may be hard, but disappearing creates panic.
We will not allow your child to cry any longer than 15 minutes. We will come and get you and have you stay with your child until he/she feels more secure.
If you do stay, please find a place to sit down. Assure your child you will not leave without telling him/her, and that you will watch them play for a while. Do not follow your child around even if he/she won't participate in the activities. He/she is doing some very important observing. Each time you stay will be shorter until you will be able to leave a happy child.• Checkout Time: Our MOPPETS teachers would appreciate your consideration when picking up your children. Please pick them up immediately after the meeting at 11:30 am. Please only one mom at a time at the sign out desks.• Labeling: Please label your child's blankets, bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers, coats, etc. Do not bring any toys from home, as we cannot be responsible if those toys are lost or broken.
• Snacks: A morning filled with activity can make children hungry. For this reason, we provide a snack during each meeting. Please bring a snack if your child has a special diet. Indicate this on the sign-in sheet. Occasionally, moms have asked if they can bring special treats (i.e. birthday) to their child's classroom. We welcome them for older children, but prior arrangements should be made with the MOPPETS Coordinator or the class teacher.
• Mommy, I need you: If your child needs special attention, we will notify you to come to your child.
• Illness: We have some special requests that will help make the MOPPETS morning enjoyable for all concerned. We appreciate your cooperation in seeing that your children are cared for in a healthy and safe environment. Our teachers reserve the right to refuse a child they feel is ill. If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be notified. Please do not bring you child if he/she has:• A cold or symptoms of cold* (green/yellow or profuse runny nose, cough, sneezing)
• A fever (or has had one within the past 24 hours)
• Suspicious rash
• Flu symptoms (stomachache, headache, diarrhea, or vomiting)*Please inform the teacher if a child has a clear runny nose or cough due to a chronic condition (i.e. allergies, asthma, etc.) or has been on antibiotics for 2 days or more. These children may be admitted to class.• MOPS Home Schoolers (First grade & up):
We are excited to offer a class just for home schoolers, first grade and up, who have siblings in the MOPPETS program! Loving teachers will care for your home schoolers by providing games to play, snacks, playground time, and a time to make new friends! Your home schooler may also bring studies from home.• Questions or Concerns: Contact the MOPPETS Coordinator, if you have any questions or concerns about the MOPPETS program. There isn't sufficient time on MOPS mornings to address some concerns in detail, so please call the MOPPETS Coordinator during the week.
